Kundalini Yoga, the Yoga of Awareness, consists of simple yogic techniques that can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of age or physical ability. It is a complete science that includes breath (pranayama), yoga postures (asanas), sound, chanting (mantra), relaxation and meditation. It is designed to provide you with the experience of your highest consciousness through the raising of your Kundalini energy (latent energy coiled at the base of the spine).
Modifications are proposed for pregnant woman and students with mobility issues. Chairs maybe be used if desired.
Pre-natal Yoga: Pre-natal Yoga at our studio is Kundalini Yoga adapted for pregnant women, which means you are taught appropriate exercise, yogic breathing & yogic meditation... naturally. Yoga is not yoga without these vital elements. Pre-natal Yoga should always be taught in such a way as to prepare the woman not only physically, but spiritually for this very great event of motherhood.
We generally have several pregnant women who attend the studio, and we provide them with special instructions and specific pre-natal yogic exercises even if they are attending a regular class. Call ahead to speak to a warm and friendly voice regarding the best day of the week to come in for pre-natal yoga this season. All of our teachers are trained to accomodate you. ***Please be prepared for more than just pre-natal exercise with us - you will also learn pre-natal Kundalini meditations & yogic breathing for yours & baby's health & happiness.
Children joining us for yoga with their parent or guardian
If you are interested in introducing your children to yoga, we recommend that parents attend one or two classes on their own first to gauge whether their child will enjoy participating in this style fo yoga. It will depend on the child's patience & attention span.
